Archie Battersbee’s life-support treatment is to be withdrawn

Archie Battersbee suffered brain damage as a result of an accident an incident at home on 7 April and has not regained consciousness ever since. Court of Appeal judges held that the boy’s life-sustaining treatment should not continue beyond 12:00 BST.

Doctors say that the boys is brain-stem dead and according to them his best interest for life support to end.

It is suspected that the boy may have taken part in the internet challenge of cutting off the blood supply to the brain for as long as possible. The boy suffered a stroke and did not regain consciousness. Doctors are of the opinion that the brain stem has died. He has been in the intensive care unit from the day of the accident.
