A nine-year-old girl was murdered in Boston, Lincolnshire, on Thursday. Police suspect the child has been stabbed to death.
The victim is nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte. The girl came from Lithuania and lived in Great Britain. She was attacked on a street close to her home while she was playing with her sister.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident. We are pursuing extensive lines of enquiry and have committed a number of resources to this investigation. You will see more officers patrolling the area, and we have a high number of specialist detectives who have been brought in to assist the investigation” – said East Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Kate Anderson.
Initially, two people were detained. However, it was reported on Saturday that a 22-year-old man suspected of murder had been detained.
UPDATE: We have arrested a 22-year-old man in Boston, this afternoon, on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.
