As it was established Grażyna K. flew to Poland from England on January 3, 2019. In the course of the activities performed, it was found that the last person to see Grażyna K. was her husband Czesław and it was until January 3, 2019, around 22:30 . Although Czesław K. did not have contact with his wife on January 4, 2019, he did not report the disappearance because he was convinced that she had left for England and that they would meet there. However, Grażyna K.’s family reported her missing.
The results of the autopsy and other evidence collected in the course of the investigation allowed the prosecution to issue on July 2, 2019 a decision on the presentation of charges against Czesław K. for the murder of his wife Grażyna on the night of January 3, 2019. i.e. for an act under Art. 148 § 1 of the Criminal Code.
However, due to the fact that Czesław K. was abroad, the charge was not announced to him. On July 2, 2019, the District Court in Tarnów, II Criminal Division, issued a decision on the application of pre-trial detention to Czesław K. for a period of 30 days from the moment of arrest. Then, on July 10, 2019, the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnów issued an arrest warrant for Czesław K.
In view of the fact that he may be present in Great Britain, on July 23, 2019, the District Court in Tarnów, II Criminal Division, issued a European Arrest Warrant for him. On the same day, British police in London arrested Czesław K. The man was brought before a British court in connection with the extradition procedure, which was protracted (including due to appeals of the detainee, pandemic and Brexit).
On 12 May 2022, Czesław K. was transported by air to Poland by policemen from the Convoy Department of the Warsaw Police Headquarters and imprisoned in Warsaw arrest. Then the policemen from the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Kraków took the detainee and brought him to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnów, where on May 18, 2002, charges were brought against him. Moreover, the Tarnów court upheld the preventive measure imposed on the 40-year-old in the form of temporary arrest until June 11, 2022.
It is planned to conduct further evidentiary activities in the investigation, including obtaining specialist forensic expertise.
