In eastern Ukraine, the Russians used phosphorus missiles prohibited by the Geneva Convention. They injured 11 residents of Marjinka, including four children.
“Eleven injured civilians from the Marian hromada, including four children, were taken to a hospital in the city of Kurakhov” – said the governor of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko.
Phosphated munitions are prohibited by the Geneva Convention. It ignites the body with living fire that is difficult to extinguish. Wounds are very painful, deep and difficult to heal. The fumes of these weapons are also toxic. They can cause temporary irritation to the eyes, mucous membranes of the nose and respiratory tracts. Smoke is more dangerous in confined spaces, where it can cause suffocation and permanent damage to the respiratory tracts.
