Today’s negotiations were described by the Russian side as “constructive”. The Ukrainians presented a clearly formulated position that the Russians promised to analyze.

Additionally, Russia has committed to taking steps towards de-escalation. Russia’s deputy defense minister, Alexander Fomin, said that Moscow has decided to “radically reduce military activity towards Kiev and Chernihiv”, which is to increase mutual trust and create conditions for negotiations, and ultimately reach an agreement.

Volodymyr Zelensky, who wanted the negotiations to take place at the highest level, was seeking a meeting with Vladimir Putin. As it turns out, such a meeting can actually take place – A meeting between Putin and Zelensky is possible simultaneously with the signing of the peace treaty – said the chief negotiator of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Miedinski.
